Peninsula, Last Day!

Our last day in the Hoh House was a sunny one! Early in the morning, Ed took the older girls to explore down by the Hoh River while the little girls watched TV and I packed. They had a lot of fun down by the river, and guess who finally came back wet? Yep. Sarah. Too bad, so sad.

We left about 10:00 and headed back towards Port Angeles. We arrived at Hurricane Ridge shortly after noon and spent a great afternoon picnicking and hiking around up there. It is so magnificent to be that high, looking at the Olympic mountains, Vancouver Island, the water, and to be in that alpine setting. We saw four deer, and some very funny grouse or sage hens of some sort. I laughed watching them literally jump up to eat the flowers from the tops of the stems.

After Hurricane Ridge it was time to head for home. We arrived in Port Townsend with enough time to eat dinner at a local Thai restaurant that was very good and then strolled through the few shops that were still open. Another ferry ride and a drive from Whidbey Island and we were home. It was a totally awesome vacation and we have now crossed “Olympic Peninsula” off the “Sarah-leaves-for-college-in-six-years-list.”
