Day Six

And we’re back to the Oregon Coast Vacation blogging posts…

On Thursday, August 6, we got up and out of the house pretty early, drove to Newport, stopped for coffee, and headed to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It was really busy there, but we had a good time walking around that morning checking out all the interesting stuff. Rumor has it that Free Willy used to live there, but they must have completely changed out the pool where he lived because we saw nothing like that there. It was actually a fairly small aquarium and certainly not one of my favorites. That said, we had a great time.

After the aquarium we wanted to have lunch at a famous fish & chips place, but it was super busy. I guess that’s what happens when it’s a famous place. So, we kind of drove around until we found another little fish & chips place, also famous, but not so busy. It was absolutely wonderful. It totally hit the spot and we all felt refreshed after that. My siblings & parents had the waitress bring us a berry cobbler since that day was our 15th anniversary!!! Thanks, guys!

We then drove up to the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. It was getting close to closing time, and we ended up not being able to go up the lighthouse, but we had fun in the interpretive center and also walking around up by the lighthouse and down on Cobble Beach. We then headed home for dinner and games, mostly the Wii.
