On Thursday the 2nd when everyone woke up, we were finally all together! (It was too late to spend time together when my older brother & his family got home from the airport, so the children all went straight to bed and didn’t see each other). My parents decided this occasion deserved an extra-special breakfast, so he got creative and made “special pancakes” for everyone.
the boys got dinosaurs
and Becca asked for the Olympic Rings, which she “decorated” accordingly
Also appearing on our breakfast plates that morning were hearts and coffee mugs, iPads for Ed, and a phage for my biologist brother. I received a push pin. You know, for Pinterest?
Later that morning we headed out to the family farm…my dad’s cousin’s family’s dairy farm, Eaglemill Farms. ALL of my nephews requested to go see a farm while they were visiting, so off we went!
At the end of our visit, Mrs. DeJong (Kelly, for those of you wondering which Mrs. DeJong) handed out bottles of chocolate milk to all the kids – and adults – who wanted some! Thanks for a great field trip, DeJong family!
Oh, I can’t forget MY favorite part of the field trip. Elias had lots of questions for Mr. DeJong (Rod, for those of you wondering which Mr. DeJong) and the best one was, “Where do you keep the daddy cows?” Mr. DeJong laughed and wasn’t quite certain how to answer that…but he did well in just saying that they don’t have many daddy cows on their farm. Thankfully Elias didn’t go one step further in his questioning…
The rest of the day involved playing, some more basketball, and some more playing. Rough life!
