Saturday morning started out a little slow, with my brother having been sick Friday night and all during the night and they had been hoping to be on the road back to CA by 10:00 Saturday morning. Needless to say, that didn’t happen, but we had a lazy morning, got in a complete “cousin” picture, packed them up and they were out the door shortly after noon. It was sad to say good-bye, as always, but we are thankful for the time we had and look forward to seeing them at Christmas!
Some fun with Legos while Aunt Susanne packed.
I love how Carter squeezed Bethany’s nose when we yelled, “OK! HUGS!”
On Saturday afternoon, Bethany was in a “street performance” downtown to celebrate the Grand Opening of our local Jansen Art Center. She was a cranky, squawky seagull from The Little Mermaid, Jr. She wasn’t in that scene this summer when she & Becca were in the performance during Summer Stock, but a few girls couldn’t make it, so the director called Bethany. It was fun for her and fun for her cousin and Uncle to watch her perform LIVE! That doesn’t generally happen since they live so far away.
After “the show” we got some ice cream (it was really hot that day!) and then headed home for pool time!
Even Claire got in on the action this time! Elise picked out that floatie (Is it a donkey? Or a giraffe? We’re not entirely sure…the face is a donkey…but the spots are a giraffe…) for Claire at the thrift store this spring. She seemed to like it!
Mostly she liked to chew on it.
She was pretty intent on stuffing that thing into her mouth! Cracked me up!!
When Claire was done, I finally let Elise have a turn in the baby floatie. I don’t think she lasted too long once the novelty wore off…
Meanwhile, Claire was pretty happy with simply trying to pull herself to standing underneath the patio table.
And generally, my mom was just happy.
