Becca’s Basketball Season 2015

Becca seems to really enjoy playing basketball when she’s on a team, but doesn’t do it much the rest of the year. She’s a good ball player, so we’ll see if she ever catches the bug and decides to practice a lot in order to really improve her game. Maybe once she’s in 7th grade and can play on a school team. Either way, it’s super fun to watch her play, and she gives 100% effort all the time. I’m continually grateful whenever she is active, after the Juvenile Arthritis diagnosis when she was 3. She is, for those of you who don’t remember, in full remission, and now that it’s been 8 years (I can’t even believe that!) it is highly unlikely that she will have a recurrence.

She made this shot! First one of the season!

She works hard on defense.

This shot was good, too!

Overall, her team was about even on its wins &  losses. They were the team “without a coach” for quite some time and ended up with an injured high school basketball player and her friend who runs track as their coaches. It was a great experience for those high school girls, I am sure, and I know Becca had fun, despite the losses they suffered towards the end of the season. I really am proud of Becca for continuing to play basketball even though she’s not been “invited” to play on the “elite” teams in the county, when many of her friends have. She’s in it for the fun and for the game, and she never gives up.
